Thanks for all the great dosing information in your Free Dosing Class and for the Dosing Calculator Tool that comes with it. I have one question though about how to measure marijuana oil.
I am starting with 1 1/4 cups (or 10 ounces) of coconut oil which is condensing to 1 cup (or 8 ounces) after draining the infusion. Do I use the 10 ounce or the 8 ounce measurement in my dosing calculation?
When to measure marijuana oil or butter! That’s a good question and one I get frequently enough that it is high time I do a video and article about it (pun intended).
Like you, I always start my infusions with a little more than I hope to get back, for instance, 1 1/4 cups in order to make 1 cup infused product. This is because no matter how well you strain it, a little bit of oil or butter or whatever you are infusing is going to stick to the plant matter.
When using the dosing calculator for calculating the strength of the infusion or the dosage in your finished edibles, you should use the smaller amount, in this case 8 ounces, to run the calculation.
The calculator will give you about as close an idea as you can get without a lab test. I usually estimate a few points less as well, as you will rarely decarboxylate 100% of the THC-A unless you are using a gadget like the Ardent Lift.
