California lawmaker questions marijuana tax increase in state
Pending California marijuana business taxes that are expected to lead to price increases when they take effect Jan. 1, are being scrutinized by a state legislator. The tax could send more customers to the less expensive illegal market, Palmdale Republican Tom Lackey told the Los Angeles Times.
Union urges Northeast govs to put labor pacts in adult-use cannabis laws
The largest union representing cannabis workers nationwide is urging a Northeast governors coalition to include labor peace agreements in any joint adult-use regulatory framework. The agreements call for employers not to interfere with union organizing activities. The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union made the request in a letter to six of the region’s governors. A group of Northeast governors met recently to discuss coordinating adult-use legalization.
