Meet Mother Indica, Nutritionist, Cannabis Coach and Social Media Manager

What started as an anonymous blog on which Erin Willis discussed using cannabis to heal from postpartum depression turned into MotherIndica.com, a proud platform for education, inspiration, and storytelling. Willis now works as a writer, educator, and social media manager for Onda Wellness.

How did you become a cannabis coach?

I’m a nutritionist. That’s what I trained for. All I’m doing now is adding my knowledge of cannabis to the nutritional side of counseling and coaching. [Trying cannabis] is kind of a scary thing, and if it goes wrong the first time, unfortunately, a lot of people who could really benefit from it are turned off. That’s the coaching aspect—just helping people kind of cross that threshold.

What question are you most often asked?

What I’m finding with all my clients is the number one thing
they need is permission; that it’s okay [to use cannabis]. I always thought it
would be like the particular strain and the method and all the nitty-gritty,
but really it’s “Oh, okay, I can do this? Thank you.” All they need is the
permission to let go and enjoy, and then everything else falls off. The anxiety
goes away. The insomnia goes away. They lose weight without even realizing it.

Is there a story behind  the name Mother Indica?

Mother Jones really inspired me, and then also Mother Goose.
The children’s storybook is one of my favorites that I read to my son, and that
I grew up on as well. And then Indica, that’s me showing my psychedelic side.
You have the subspecies Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica. When those were
nomenclatured, Cannabis indica actually was the one high in THC.

Do you have any social media advice for brands?

I try to be as creative, free-flow, and honest as possible. You know, social media is so new for humans. It’s like, “What is this thing that’s been created?” It’s insane. So, when you’re able to cut the bull crap and truly speak authentically, people catch on to that. There’s also imagery. Onda’s co-founder is a great photographer, so that helps me with the story branding. My advice: Create and craft a story to make [your brand] accessible to the potential customer.

How to be a Super Woman: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Don’t you dare put so much pressure on yourself to “do it all” Life is no Sarah Jessica Parker movie. Let’s not pretend that doing it all is even possible. Take breaks, delegate, and take ease in the fact that you’re alive and well. Not even Beyonce can do it all, she has a full team ladies! ⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Drink all the clean water you possibly can because a) it’s healthy af, and b) who knows how long this haven will last. ⠀⠀⠀ 3. Douse yourself in oil.. your face, hair, body, yoni- all of it. Your body thrives on healthy oils as they act as a protector, cleanser, and hydrator. Please don’t strip these beautiful molecules!! Replenish and love, daily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Eat your fats.. this is how the human brain grew to the size it is today. Let’s keep that up. We went through a dark period in the 80’s and 90’s with faux reports coming out that stated fat was bad for you. Just simply untrue. FAT is DIVINE. Avocados, coconut, ????, the occasional animal fats, yummy walnuts, etc. ⠀⠀⠀ 5. READ ALL THE THINGS, and not from a screen. Take breaks from phones. ⠀⠀ 6. Know when you need support (brain and body included). This is where my personal supplementations come into play. I only use them when needed, as they are plant medicines (aka sacred things so treat with respect!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I personally love the @moonjuice Super products. One is for a calming sense (SuperYou) and the other is for hair (SuperHair). When I get stressed out my hair brittles and falls out more than necessary. I usually don’t take supplements but thought, hey.. I need the support. I can’t lie, the hair supplement is a big capsule to swallow. And at 4 per day I get discouraged. But hey, super women aren’t hard on themselves for missing a day. There are bigger problems to solve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And of course, my beloved @onda.wellness ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is by far the cleanest, purest CBD-rich hemp product on the market. I cannot emphasize this enough. Biodynamic, organic hemp.. vegan, no solvents, no stripping of the beautiful plant. Real people with real ♥️ behind this company. “MOTHER20” for 20% off all the Onda products. Don’t you forget! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Swipe to see my daily dose ⚡️
